Editorial Policy
TechReviewz publishes practical technology guidance for readers who want to understand how long devices remain useful, what repairs or upgrades can realistically change, and what to check before buying new, used, open-box, or refurbished hardware. This editorial policy explains how we approach research, recommendations, corrections, and commercial relationships.
What we publish
Our coverage focuses on device lifespan, battery health and charging, repairability, upgrades, software-support periods, and the ownership tradeoffs that are easy to miss in launch-day specifications. We aim to answer concrete questions readers face before spending money or deciding whether an existing device is still worth keeping.
How we research articles
Articles are prepared from a mix of manufacturer documentation, published support policies, repair information, established technical references, and realistic ownership scenarios. When a claim depends on a specific model, operating-system version, market, seller, repair shop, warranty term, or user behavior, we try to make that limitation clear instead of presenting the claim as universal.
Manufacturer statements are useful but not automatically treated as complete purchasing advice. A long software-support promise, for example, may still need to be considered alongside battery condition, repair cost, parts availability, performance, storage, and the reader’s actual use case. Our job is to explain those tradeoffs rather than reduce them to a single score.
Facts, estimates, and practical judgment
TechReviewz distinguishes between published facts and practical interpretation. A documented update commitment, warranty term, battery specification, or repair requirement should be treated differently from an estimate about useful life or value. When an article uses an estimate, it should be presented as an estimate and accompanied by the factors that can change the result.
Documentation-based smartphone and laptop reviews
Our ownership reviews evaluate manufacturer documentation together with original analysis of the buying decision. We identify the exact model and configuration, separate operating-system upgrades from security coverage, and examine repair access, software fit and the complete cost of a usable setup. Model-family options are not treated as features of every delivered unit.
Unless an article expressly reports a test that was performed, it is a documentation-based assessment. We do not invent hands-on battery endurance, camera comparisons, gaming benchmarks or ratings. Hypothetical calculations are labelled as examples, and uncertain details remain visible rather than being filled in with guesses.
Research evidence is kept in editorial notes. Articles show their publication or material-update context and provide practical acceptance checks readers can apply to their own offer. A revision that adds a decision record is identified as such; it is not presented as a new laboratory test or a guarantee of future performance.
We avoid guaranteeing outcomes that depend on battery wear, physical condition, prior repairs, environment, workload, seller practices, or future manufacturer decisions.
Product comparisons and buying guidance
Our buying guidance is designed to help readers ask better questions. We do not assume that the newest or most expensive product is the right answer. A lower-cost device with a longer support runway may be a better purchase for one reader, while another may reasonably choose a newer model because repairability, battery condition, performance, or warranty coverage matters more.
When discussing used or refurbished devices, we encourage readers to verify condition, warranty, battery health, return terms, software support, carrier or region compatibility, and the identity of the refurbisher or seller before purchase.
Editorial independence
Editorial conclusions are based on usefulness to readers. Advertising does not purchase favorable coverage. If sponsored material is published, it will be identified clearly. If TechReviewz uses affiliate links in the future, the relationship will be disclosed where appropriate, and the presence of an affiliate relationship will not change the price paid by the reader.
Corrections
Technology changes quickly, and published information can become outdated. We review credible correction requests and update articles when a material factual error or outdated support detail is identified. Readers can report an issue through the Contact page. A useful correction request should include the article title, the relevant passage, and a reliable source supporting the change.
Updates to existing articles
Existing articles may be revised when manufacturers change support policies, warranty terms, repair programs, or other information that materially affects the guidance. Minor wording edits may not receive a separate notice. Substantive corrections or updates should be reflected in the article where they matter to the reader.
